About IM Properties
IM Properties is one of the UK’s largest privately owned property development and investment companies.
We’re committed to securing high-quality, long-term investments. We’re also dedicated to delivering new developments that benefit communities through a fair, collaborative approach that is underpinned by our purpose, vision and core values.
Our purpose and vision determine what we do; our values drive how we do it. We uphold them in every interaction with our customers, supply chain, local planning authorities, communities and each other. These relationships are key to delivering long-term strategic developments that create economic growth and lasting value for the communities we work in.
Core business values of IM Properties and the wider IM Group:
- Integrity, Commitment, Respect and Togetherness underpin everything we do. We expect these values to be upheld in the interactions we have with our stakeholders, the communities where we operate, and with each other.
- Our purpose, as part of our sustainable futures strategy is to create a sustainable future together
- Our vision is to be innovative in creating sustainable developments, fit for the future
The business parks, real estate assets and homes we create and maintain are essential to local economic and societal growth. As such, it’s crucial we develop them responsibly. As planning regulations, local requirements and customer demand for sustainability continue to rise, we are challenging ourselves to innovate so that we can deliver developments that are fit for the future.
Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of our decision-making, from how we operate to the assets we invest in. Our Sustainable Futures strategy guides action across IMP to ensure we leave a positive legacy beyond the physical boundaries of our property developments. Sustainable Futures will also help us maintain our competitive advantage as our sector increasingly embraces the benefits of applied sustainability amid a UK transition to a low-carbon economy.
Development
We take a long-term view on development, placing exceptional build quality and ongoing stakeholder engagement as the foundations of our approach. To ensure we’re constantly leveraging best practice, we explore new products and innovative approaches to see what value we can add for occupiers. Wherever we promote or deliver a development, we want to do so with integrity. Engaging with communities and other important local stakeholders from an early stage is part of this approach.
Sustainable Futures
Our Sustainable Futures Framework outlines our purpose to create a sustainable future together. Comprising of three key pillars: People, Place and Planet, the framework provides a set of principles to support our vision to be innovative in creating sustainable developments. People
Its crucial for the success of our sustainability framework that we’re all on board together and pulling in the same direction. Our 2030 ambition is to enable and inspire sustainable thinking from our employees, occupiers, and customers, to suppliers, industry and regulatory bodies, and the communities in which we work.
Place
While the overall impact of our developments is a positive one, benefitting the local economy through jobs, training, and local investment, they can also be controversial among some host community members. It is therefore crucial we take time to understand the communities’ current and future needs, and make sure we are leaving a positive legacy. Our 2030 ambition is to create positive change in the communities where we work.
Planet
We know that we must play our role in supporting the UK on its transition towards a low carbon economy, amid ever increasing concern over climate risks. We have set a commitment that we will continue to be certified as a Carbon Neutral Company for the operation of IM Properties and Spitfire. We are also supporting the ‘Race to Zero’ and aligned with Science Based Target Initiatives and all new build commercial developments will be Net Zero Ready as defined by UKGBC. Our Planet commitments extend to building and procuring responsibly, and making nature integral to our environment, wellbeing and economy.
Our Sustainable Futures Strategy post dates the approval of our plans for Towcester Park, but we are committed to adhering to these principles as we move the project forward. Where relevant, information with regards the application of our strategy will be provided in the future documentation which supports the more detailed proposals for the site or, in the case of our ‘Place’ commitments, elsewhere on this site. See pages outlining our approach to Community Funds and Employment, Education and Training.
